<< I'm going to fucking cry. >>

Let's face it. The way my parents raised their sons meant I was taught to love America. I was taught the ideals of democracy upon which it was founded. I was told that every man had a voice and as a nation that voice would be exercised for the good of man. When we were young, that sounded so good, and so right, and so pure. Every man was equal in the eyes of the law. There were no limits in our democracy and anyone could grow up to be president. Damn...Shit...Fuck...it all just sounds so...wonderful...

Let me tell you a story about a man whose name I cannot give out due to ongoing legal proceedings, let's call him N. N was a real average guy, he wasn't out to hurt anyone. Just did his job and got by like everyone else. He liked to take walks with his girl some days, hold her hand and get lost in her eyes. He was driving from _____to ____ for a business meeting. Out of the fucking blue he gets hit head on by some jerk off who is on the wrong side of the road and going 84 miles per hour. This is basically the worst case scenario for a crash, head on at a combined speed of 138 mph. His car swerved off the road and into the ditch. The steering column pinned him in his seat, crushing his ribs. Then engine block was basically in his lap and had crushed his legs.
The driver and the passenger of the other car escaped unscathed and sat on their car.
Another woman pulled over to help N, and dialed her cell phone for the police. She then tried to help N, talking to him and trying to keep him concious. It was all she could do since she couldn't get him out of the car by herself and other bystanders that gathered, including the driver and passenger of the other car, refused to help.
By this point I guess you're trying to figure out exactly what this story has to do with the ideal of america. Well, when a police officer arrived on the scene, just before paramedics, he found a man who appeared to be almost cut in half. As paramedics went to work he approached the driver of the other car. Before a word escaped his lips the driver spoke.
"Back off," he said, obviously expecting to be listened to, "We're judges."

And then the real story begins. But as I said before, this whole thing is still really tied up legally, and N extracted a promise from me that I not tip his hand. so I'm trying as hard as I can to be vague and loose with details.
It took 2 hours to cut N out of the car and medivac him to a hospital. He wasn't expected to walk again and a doctor told him the the bones of his legs look like the remains of someone hitting an Aspirin with a hammer. He wouldn't walk again.
Well fuck them, he walks today. Not easily but he's anything but a man to give up. All told, this accident has cost him his job (he was fired and the company refused to pay health benefits for recovery), his health (his new legs are really chunks of bone that swivvle at the hip), and his rights (the two drunk judges [that's right, you heard it] filed to have the incident removed from all legal records, which would basically make is like the whole thing never happened meaning that the judges would be free to go on judging other drunk drivers).

Let me tell you something true. ALL MEN ARE NOT EQUAL!!!!! They fucking should be, but unfortunately men with power and privilege seem to be able to continually piss all over the average Joe (or N in this case) is just supposed to role over and take it.

That's America people, get used to it.

Also, George Bush is ruining the whole fucking country.

Go there and weep for the fate of us brave souls who will be in the work force for the next 30 years.

Today, I fear for the death of America. It is rotten to it's core and seemingly headed for a darker time. If something is not done, then our nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men were created equal (a republican said this, can you believe it?) will perish from this earth. Unfortunately for the rest of the world, the fall of the only super power will cause a power lapse in the upper eschalon. Who will step up? The UN, a joke. The United Kingdom? Tony Blair is Bush's lap dog and a nancy boy to boot. In this unstable global climate it will again be europe's time to shine with it's Integrated economy thanks to the new Euro. Japan might stand a good chance. With their large economic influence on America they may be able to help stabilize global markets as the New York Stock Exchange crumbles.

I fear for the dark days ahead.
